Welcome To Wolf Lake Wellness!

 
We began in the summer of 2008 as a Natural Parenting Group, (Green Parenting Alliance) gaining interest from parents and non parents, turning our group into more of a community group rather than just a healthy play group.

As we looked into becoming a non for profit organization (NPO), the buying club I had belonged to had overgrown, allowing for an opportunity to start my own buying club. This was something we had already considered, although the perfect time had not presented itself until last summer.  We transferred our focus from starting GPA as a NPO and turned our focuses on starting an Organic Buying Club, and Wolf Lake Wellness was started.

Around the time that Wolf Lake Wellness began, Azure Standard stopped guaranteeing the quality of their fresh produce being shipped to all Alaska customers. (Azure's Alaska customers order fresh produce at one's own risk.)

About this same time, I recalled a friend of mine telling me about her experiences finding superb Organic Produce from a company out of Oregon. No matter where they moved within the State of Alaska, they have always been able to rely on fantastic produce with outstanding customer service from Organically Grown.

After a phone call or two, we began to buy all of our Farm Fresh USDA Certified Produce from Organically Grown!

Wolf Lake Wellness became a Monthly Organic/Natural foods Buying Club with local pick-up and a Yahoo group that had been used throughout the summer.  We are providing links to healthy living, home schooling sites, healthy recipes, and much more.

We encouraged folks in the community to post current classes, events, milk co-ops, homemade items, home businesses, and other hobbies that people in our community have to offer.

With the addition of our new website we have compiled all the previous features into a new user friendly forum, info page and ordering system.

Currently we are mainly focused on the Mat Su Valley, although we do have readers throughout the state of Alaska, and even in a few in other states. 

I believe that over time with your help we will have a wonderful resource to offer, by submitting current events, local healthy restaurants, kid friendly activities, Natural health providers, recycling, hobbyist, etc. in their area.  We then collaborate into our web page to offer a vast source of info to others interested in a healthy lifestyle as a great one stop resource center for our members.
